In the Tucson, AZ desert.

In the Tucson, AZ desert.

Jim Hontz

As a writing and humanities teacher for 31 years, my greatest joy was to offer my students a clear but personal lens through which they could view and interpret the new and old in literature, art, and music. That sensibility is reflected in my photographs.

Because my subject matter is so varied, I resist calling myself one kind of photographer or another. My subjects are universal and ubiquitous, be it a desert sunrise, a dead weed, a rock outcropping, or a forgotten town.

Hopefully my images will evoke an emotional response, however different from my own. They are simply my interpretations of truth, beauty and dignity in this physical world.

All of my images are digital and are rendered in the digital darkroom to reflect my artistic vision, which is ever-evolving.

So much to see, so much to learn....
